Schemata Workshop
Founded in 2004, Schemata Workshop is a 14-person Capitol Hill-based architecture and urban design company. We provide high-quality, full architectural services to public and private clients on new and renovation projects. We work on projects that align with our values for community, social equity, and sustainability. The diversity of our staff reflects the communities we serve.
Schemata Workshop has a broad range of experiences — designing and renovating for parks, community and recreation centers, aquatic facilities, community kitchens, office spaces, food banks, as well as transit facilities, educational facilities, and multifamily housing. The common thread among all these projects is that they serve the community. We have a passion for community-based design and believe in the importance of equitable, resilient neighborhoods.
Schemata Workshop is a registered Minority/Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) in Washington and Oregon. Schemata Workshop maintains our JUST label from the International Living Futures Institute: a “nutritional label” for companies that value transparency and social equity. In 2025, Schemata Workshop was part of the inaugural class to earn AIA Washington’s Emerging Professional Certification, which identifies firm initiatives that promote the advancement of EPs through professional development and personal growth opportunities.
