Friesz Architects

Friesz Architects is a highly collaborative design studio with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest’s warm modernist tradition. Our work is shaped by a strong connection to nature and a commitment to uncovering the unique story of each project to create personal one-of-a-kind places for our clients.

Several notable projects include the Eva’s Cafe and Bar in Belltown, House of Eve restaurant in South Lake Union, The Grocery in Beacon Hill, and Blue Ridge Residence.

Founder, Jim Friesz, brings 30 years of experience with a diverse background in architecture, ranging from large-scale civic and cultural projects to intimate residential designs.

Originally from Eastern Washington’s Columbia Basin and the North Cascades, Jim’s early environment fostered a lasting appreciation for natural landscapes and regional identity. He earned both a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University in 1993.

Jim is a licensed architect in Washington (since 2006) and Montana (since 2022) and holds LEED BD+C and NCARB accreditations.

When you work with Friesz Architects, we listen first, dream with you, understand the investment, bring residential and commercial crossover experience, navigate complex permitting and love being with the field with our amazingly skilled building partners.
